Message Length

Duration of message to cell phones is 2-3 times longer than land lines for the exact same message. Why is there such a difference between a Regular phone and a Cell phone? I am going to ask our developers if we experienced the same results here as well. POS also said they would provide results back to us with exact times for a more detailed review. I just thought I would ask if this is normal? It is just because cell phone messages are generally longer?

This is what I found out on the time on the message duration when comparing Cell versus Land line. It also appears that the system does continue to have problems properly identifying if it is an actual call or voice mail.

Thank you for your time.

Hi,

Are you referring to messages being played to cell phones and landlines for outbound calls?

The duration of the message between cell phones and landlines shouldn't differ. If you continue to notice this issue, you can open up a ticket with our support team and provide the call examples of where you noticed this behavior. To open up a ticket, you can e-mail support@plumgroup.com or call into the Plum support line. Please note that you will need your 8-digit customer ID when contacting support. This customer ID can be found in your support contract with Plum. If you do not yet have a support contract with Plum, please contact your sales representative.

Regarding your final point, the feature you are referring to is callee type detection, which tries to determine if the callee is a human or an answering machine; however, callee type detection is not 100% accurate. If you would like to have callee type detection disabled for your account, you can contact our support team using the steps mentioned above and reference the account where you would like to have callee type detection disabled.

Regards,
Plum Support
