15 minute record limit

Post by metroscript »

Hello,

We are new Plum customer and have recently rolled out VoiceXML our application to our users (doctors that do their dictations using our system). On our end, we developed in classic ASP coding and our server is Microsoft IIS on Windows 2003 Server OS.

During development we were told by your technicians that there is a 15 minute time limit for a given recording. Can you please ellaborate on that a bit? Is this a 15 minute limit on the VOX file creation process on your end, or some sort of connection timeout between your server and ours, imposed by your system?

What we're seeing is that it appears to be more like a 14 minute limit (and we've implemented it as 12 minutes to "play it safe") but my real question follows.

Your technicians also told us that you are working towards increasing that 15 minute limitation up to 60 minutes. My question is this -- do you have any ballpark idea as to when that 60 minute limit might be in production for our use?

I ask because our users are already complaining about the time limit because we're telling them to press 1 to save the current dictation (less than 12 minutes in our solution) and begin a new one (which resets the clock and creates a separate VOX file).

Any advice you can provide along these lines would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Charlei Pasquine

15 minute record limit on IVR platform

Post by support »

Hi,

We have just run an IVR application to test the 15 minute time limit for a recording and was able to record a message for 15 minutes exactly. Once the 15 minutes have elapsed, the IVR platform will move on to the next block in the IVR application.

As for the increase to 60 minutes of recording time, this will be available in our next release scheduled for the first quarter of 2008.

Hello,

Thanks for the reply. I find it odd that we are having problems getting a recording to exceed 13 minutes. Anyway, what do you mean by, "the platform will move on to the next block in the application?" Please clarify.

Thank you,

Charlie

IVR clarification

Post by support »

Hi,

To clarify, "moving on to the next block of the application" just meant it would move on to whatever you have written in your IVR script following this recording part of your IVR script. So, the next block could be a "<form> block", "<field> block", etc.

Hope this clarifies things.

Good morning to all,

In a previous reply to this post, you stated that the <record> limit would be increased beyond 15 minutes to 60 minutes in the next release in the first quarter of 2008. Do you have a date for this release? Our users are very unhappy with getting cut off at a 15 minute mark. If the release isn't soon, is there any way to have a <prompt> say "you have 1 minute remaining" in the middle of the recording?

Thanks,

Mike C.

new version of IVR platform to be released in two weeks

Post by support »

Hi,

We plan on releasing the next version of our IVR platform for general testing in the next two weeks. After customers are given time to evaluate their IVR code against our IVR systems, we will make an announcement about our deployment plans.

About your question on the <prompt> , this implementation is not possible.

Thanks for your patience.
