Does plum support "Open Ended" Voice Recognition?

Post by jcanter »

Is the voice recognition engine included with the Plum platform sophisticated enough to handle something like an application that can collect customer orders. For example, if a caller wanted to order a pizza by saying "A large pizza with pepperonis, mushrooms, and peppers", could the voice recoginition system understand that order?

The recognition engines that work with plum do not support open ended voice rcognition. Plum, along with all other IVR vendors provide word based recognitioninstead, because the state of speec rec has not advanced to the point where open ended dialogs can be processed within a reasonable amount of time. This is the holy grail of current research efforts.
