Answering Machine issue

Hello, I have a plum application which plays a mesagge and gives 3 choices after it with reprompt. The question is, what happens when an answer machine answers? does it record the message plus the options? or it keeps recording until the memory gets full because of the outbound application reprompt?

Another issue, an answering machine may be playing a message while the stuff that should be recording is playing from the outbound application side, thus the message the will be recorded will not be complete.

How could I address this issues?

Thank you

Hi,

Most of your questions were addressed in an earlier IVR post: http://support.plumvoice.com/viewtopic.php?t=865

So, when an answering machine answers an IVR outbound call, the outbound IVR system can detect it as an answering machine. The answering machine would be able to record the message plus the options.

As for your last question, you can look at the earlier post on how to address this.

The answering machine detection actually doesn't work really well. Often, the call is identified as an answering machine call while it's a normal user that answers the call. Will this be improved in the future?

Hi,

We'll look into improving the callee type detection for the outbound IVR system. The date for when we will implement this improvement is currently undetermined.
