What is hotword recognition?

Post by support »

There are two possible recognition modes: speech and hotword. Speech mode is the only recognition mode support by the Plum Voice Platform.

In speech mode, the platform will interrupt a prompt and attempt recognition as soon as it detects any sound. The platform will then analyze the sound for speech and return a match (speech was detected and it matches a grammar), a nomatch (speech was detected but does not match a grammar), or a noinput (no speech was detected).

In hotword mode, the platform will continuously listen for speech and only interrupt a prompt if speech that matches a grammar was detected. Hence, with hotword, the platform will only return either a match or a noinput.
