Pronouncing Dollar amount in Spanish

Post by SGTAdmin »

We use <say-as type="currency">USD2.50</say-as> to speak the dollar amount. It works great for English Language, it says "Two Dollars and Fifty Cents" however for Spanish language it says as “dos dólares punto cinqueta” which means “Two Dollars point fifty” instead of "dos dólares y cincuenta centavos" which means "two dollars and fifty cents".

Has any one had a similar issues? Is there a solution for this?

Hi,

You will need to preparse the currency amount on your end of the IVR code into "dos dólares y cincuenta centavos" since you cannot rely on the TTS engine to properly translate the amount into Spanish. This is due to a limitation of the TTS engine.
