Voice recognition of a spelled word character by character.

Post by artyler »

We are thinking of an inbound approach where the caller is offered the ability to spell a word that cannot be recognized.

Currently we are only aware of this ability when using the ACRONYM method for outputting a word (or grammar entry).

We can recognize one character at a time but currently the recognition phase terminates after a single character recognition. Do you have a script that will recognize a string of characters spelled out individually.

Is there a grammar string or a guide as to how we can do this.

We would also need to include recognition of the word space (or an equivalent word) to act as a word spacer and the word "end" or a suitable alternative, when the spelling is complete.

:?: Do you have a suitable script somewhere?

Thank You

character - character spelling too difficult for IVR recog

Post by support »

Hi,

Sorry, but this IVR application is not possible due to the difficulty the IVR speech recognition engine would have in recognizing the spelling from a human being. One example of how difficult it would be is differing between an "m" and an "n".
