I have a JSP-based web application I'd like to interface with a Plum VoiceXML 2.1 IVR Gateway.
One feature I would like to incorporate in the web application is the ability for the JSP application user to record their voice, and then use the JSP application to send this recorded voice snippet to a call recipient.
I am comfortable with making a WAV file available to the Gateway - but I am unsure what applications / browser-plugins are generally used by the Plum community for recording voice in a WAV file in the first place.
The web application users will sit at PC workstations running windows XP. I can install software / hardware (microphone), as necessary.
Are there any approved / suggested tools for recording voice on a PC / Web browser for use with a Plum Gateway? Any suggestions on implementation?
Thanks for any advice!

IVR Basic Question - PC/Web WAV recording application
Hi,
You could try using Audacity, which is free, open source software that will allow you to record and edit sounds.
Here's the link:
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply.
I downloaded and played a bit with Audacity. It looks like a powerful program.
Do you know of any very simple / bare bones applications that can be launched from a browser? Like a browser plugin that allows one to record a voice snippet, play it back, accept it, or re-record it?
The users of the web application would definitely benefit from simplicity...
Thanks!

I stumbled across the Vimas Technologies WAV Recording Applet SDK today - it's a simple java app that embeds in a webpage (http://www.vimas.com/wav.php). This is pretty close to what I'm looking for. Has any one tried this application - or can you recommend a similar application?
Many thanks!

IVR Basic Question - PC/Web WAV recording application
Hi,
We do not know of any IVR applications that will allow you to do this. We've found Audacity to be pretty good for handling recording and editing sounds. You might find that Vimas will work better for you.
